Citizenship & PSHEE Area
Pupils at Appleton take part in both Citizenship and PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education) lessons and develop a wide range of skills through the study of a number of topic areas.
In Citizenship lessons we investigate democracy, rights & responsibilities and identities and diversity whilst also considering sustainability. Tasks are constructed to develop critical thinking skills; to consider advocacy & representation and students are given opportunities to take informed and responsible action.
There are two pathways in our PSHEE lessons; Economic Wellbeing & Personal Wellbeing.

In "Economic Wellbeing" students are given opportunities to investigate careers, capability and risk whilst beginning to develop economic understanding. The skills of self development, exploration, enterprise & financial capability are nurtured during their study of these elements.
In "Personal Wellbeing" students examine personal Identities, healthy lifestyles, assess risk, scrutinise relationships & consider diversity. They develop the skills of critical reflection, decision making and risk management, whilst also understanding how to develop relationships & to work with others.
Students are guided by our team of twenty three tutors for one hour a week.
