Humanities

This area covers the separate subjects of History, Geography and Religious Studies.

In year 7, students typically follow a modular Humanities course. This means 4 week topics rotating between Geography, History and Religious Studies.

Topics are always evidence and activity based, and the structure of the course helps students make the transition from Junior school, to secondary school.

In year 8 and 9 the setting of year 7 continues - ability settings common to the School. This allows more able students to be extended beyond the basic core of work, while the less able students receive support in smaller groups, that allows them to achieve.

Some students carry on with RS in year 9 and the top 50% will choose a 1 year full GCSE course in History or Geography. In years 10 and 11 full GCSE courses are available in History, Geography and R.S. to all students.
