It is an exciting time to be teaching Design and Technology. In addition, with television programmes such as Robot Wars, Scrapheap Challenge, Ready Steady Cook, Changing Rooms and the numerous other house makeover series, the subject has a high profile in the public eye, albeit unbeknown to some.
Design and Technology is the subject that most readily combines the topics taught in other subjects. It is no longer in the realm of the practical arts but firmly addresses the key skill issues that face us at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
In design and technology at Key Stage 3, students rotate every Six weeks through Siz Subjects including Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials, System and Control, CAD and Graphics. These are included in this site curriculum models which set out what students do in each module. Your child may rotate in a specific order which he or she will know depending on the group they have been put into.
