The Appleton School Art Department currently works in response to the QCA schemes of work for KS3: these have been modified to suit the profile of the Department. Y7 and Y8 students produce one project each term.
The main project themes for Y7 are:
1. 'Self-image' 2. 'What's in a building' 3. 'Recreating Landscapes'
The main project themes in Y8 are:
1. 'Life-events' 2. 'Animating Art' 3. 'Shared view'
All students recieve a homework booklet each half-term.
At KS4, the Art Department currently offers pupils a choice between Unendorsed Art, BTEC Level 2 Certificate, and BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate. KS4 students are encouraged to master a wide variety of art materials, research information on Artists and Designers, and to work independently in the development of their own creative ideas.
