Equality Act

The Appleton School is committed to meeting its responsibilities in relation to the Equality Act of 2010. In all we do we endeavour to ensure that the 3 aims of the act are upheld and that we

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under the Act.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not share it.

All information is continually analysed to ensure school users who have any of the protected characteristics have the same quality of experience when at the school as those who do not share it.

To further develop our performance with regards to equality we have joined the National Equalities Award scheme for schools. As part of this scheme we will be continually evaluating our inclusive practices to see if there is more we can do to ensure equality of opportunity for all of our students, parents, staff, visitors and community users. With this in mind we encourage all school users to inform us if they have any special requirements to further their experience of the school, please see the contacts page on this website for ways in which you can get in touch.

Targets to address equality issues identified are considered central to our whole school development and are set and evaluated annually as part of this plan.
