Headteacher of The Appleton School Sarah Cox welcomed a number of dignitaries from the Department from Education and the local area on Monday 9th October. Schools Minister Baroness Diana Barran and other senior representatives from the DFE, alongside Castlepoint MP Rebecca Harris and local Councillor Andrew Sheldon visited to look at the work done by the school since the start of term and to congratulate the school on their full reopening following confirmation from the Trust and School surveys that there is no RAAC on site.

Baroness Barran said, “I am delighted that The Appleton School has re-opened after it has been confirmed that no RAAC is present and I want to apologise to the pupils, staff, parents, and anyone else who has been affected by the disruption.

I have seen first-hand how amazing the teaching staff at the school have been, and all students are now back to full time, face to face education.

I want to thank Trust leader Ahson Mohammed and Headteacher Sarah Cox for their work in helping the school to get back up and running. I also want to extend my thanks to MP Rebecca Harris for her ongoing support with this case.”

MP for Castlepoint Rebecca Harris also commented, “It’s a testament to the great teachers and strong leadership team at Appleton that they have gone through such a difficult period and come out the other side the way they have. It was great to see teachers and pupils being so happy to be back in their classrooms!”
